On Saturday May 11th, DRYCO Construction, Inc. sponsored the 3rd annual Hike for ManKind to raise funds for OneChild, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing disadvantaged children with new clothing and school supplies. The event consisted of a hike for those brave enough to hike Mission Peak to the top, followed by a barbecue back at DRYCO headquarters.
The day started beautiful and cool, and after a small “power-breakfast” around 8am, 49 hikers were shuttled over to start the ascent from the base of Mission Peak.
The heat wore on as the hours passed, but the hikers kept trekking along, finally reaching the summit around 10:30am.
After taking a breather and checking out the amazing views, the group took some photos and then started the descent.
Once everybody made it back to the base of the mountain, they were shuttled back to DRYCO headquarters to meet up for a post-hike barbecue lunch.
For every hiker that climbed Mission Peak, DRYCO donated a NEW backpack to OneChild. For each person that participated in the barbecue, DRYCO donated $25 Payless Shoes gift cards to OneChild.
Overall, almost $2500 in goods and gift cards was raised for OneChild!
Thank you to everybody that came out and made the Hike for ManKind ’13 to benefit OneChild a success.
