Located near the heart of Silicon Valley, the Mountain View Shoreline facility needed essential pavement repairs to restore safety and extend the life of the asphalt surfaces. DRYCO was brought in to handle the upgrades with a strategic approach focused on longevity, durability, and clean execution.
One of the main issues on site was root intrusion. Tree roots had begun to buckle the asphalt in several areas, creating potential hazards for pedestrians and vehicles. DRYCO’s team began by removing these compromised sections and re-compacting the sub-base to ensure a stable foundation. Once prepared, we installed and compacted four inches of hot-mix asphalt to restore the surface and eliminate the damage caused by the underlying roots.
Additional repairs included the full-depth removal and replacement of damaged asphalt, excavation of subgrade materials, and site preparation for sport surfacing. We followed up with a complete resurfacing process using Laykold Masters material, an industry-standard solution for recreational courts, and added acid etching, primer coats, filler, topcoats, and precision line painting.
To finish, we sealed all cracks ¼” or larger, treated oil spots, applied two coats of OverKote emulsion seal coat, and repainted striping to complete the rejuvenation of the area.
The full scope of the work includes:
- Remove existing asphalt pavement protruding tree roots
- Recompact the sub-base, then place and compact 4″ of new hot-mix asphalt
- Demolish and remove existing asphalt to a depth of 6″
- Excavate 4″ of existing rock/dirt
- Install court surface using Laykold Masters material
- Acid etch new concrete, install concrete primer coat, 2 filler coats, topcoat, and line paint
- Seal cracks 1/4″ and larger with Duro-Flex hot-applied crack filler
- Treat oil spots
- Two-coat application of OverKote sealcoat emulsion over the entire surface
- Paint all lines affected by the new asphalt and sealcoat
