Concrete Dock Floor Patching at Mare Island Drydock – Vallejo, CA

Project Description

Scope of Work: Concrete Dock Floor Patching

The Mare Island Dry Dock in Vallejo, CA, needed repairs to their concrete and called in the DRYCO team for the job. The concrete had been there since 1941 and was failing in several locations. To complete this project, we had to lower the equipment down into the dry dock.

Removing Old Concrete

We had to cut up and square loose, failed parts of the concrete. We chipped and removed any material that appeared to be failing to a depth of 2″-3″. We also cut out and removed any old, rusted rebar. Then we sand blasted the surface and residue adhered to existing concrete as needed.

Replacing Concrete

We installed new dowels in the existing concrete, then applied a weld-crete bonding agent to the existing surface. The team installed #3 rebar at 18″ OC. We then pumped and finished new high strength 38″ concrete with fibers. This was done in four different locations at the dry dock.
