The DRYCO team completed a large full depth reclamation (FDR) project for the Realty Income Corporation in Redding, CA. FDR is a different style of asphalt project that breathes new life into old roads and parking lots — it is an eco-friendly way to strengthen a road.
Asphalt Demolition
The first thing we did was asphalt demolition, where we ground up and removed the existing asphalt in the parking lot at an approximate average of 2.5″ in depth. We hauled off the debris and removed approximately 1″ to 1.5″ of base material to allow for swelling of the treated base application, which we also off-hauled.
Stabilize Soil
The DRYCO team treated and mixed 5% cement to a depth of 12″ over the entire designated area to stabilize and dry up sub-grade. Moisture in sub-grade can lead to cracks and potholes, so this is an important step that improves the longevity of roads and parking lots. We also added fine grades to the soil to prepare the surface for paving.
Asphalt Paving
Once everything was prepared, we finished the FDR part of this project by placing and compacting 3″ of hot mix asphalt in one lift.
Pavement Striping
The finishing touch on this FDR project was restriping all of the pavement markings. This includes painting out parking stalls, ADA stalls, and cross hatched loading zones in the parking stalls. The work was done in conjunction with the asphalt work.
