Project Description
The new BMW Dealership and Service Shop in Fairfield, CA, needed a 38,000 SF structural slab.
Trenches
We first had to create trenches for isolated footings, continuous footings, and grade beams. The team hauled away the excavation spoils after the trenching was completed. For the footings, we had to form and set reinforced steel, then pour and finish each concrete footing as detailed on plans. We had to sub rebar for CMU in footings for 36″ for CMU to tie to.
The team also had to excavate through base rock for concrete curbs, then off-haul the material.
Site Work
We placed 4″ of 3/4″ crushed rock and a 15 MIL Visqueen vapor barrier over the site. Our team then places 2″ of sand over the site.
Concrete Slabs
The team installed rebar, formed, and poured recessed slab in the service bay, elevator pit, stepped footing, and trench drain in the car wash bay. We then had to drill a hole that was 10′ deep and 48″ round.
For the concrete slab, we formed edges and set #4 rebar at 16″ on the center. From there, we poured and finished the 6″ thick concrete slab.
Concrete Sidewalk and Heavy Concrete Section
We followed the base rock and prep by others within 1/4″ of the final elevation, to form the edges of the concrete sidewalk. The team installed #4 rebar at 16″ OC. Then we poured and finished concrete to a depth of 5″ for the sidewalk and 6″ for the heavy concrete section with a standard broom finish and no added coloring.
Concrete Curbs
Includes 614 LF of concrete curb and gutter, 943 LF of type 1 rolled curb and gutter, 636 LF of type 2 rolled curb and gutter, 1131 LF of 6″ vertical curb, 296 LF of the curb with extended footing, and 51 LF of the thru-island gutter.
Truncated Domes
As a finishing touch, we furnished and installed surface-mounted Domes SafetyStep truncated domes at 11 locations and applied epoxy.
